Common questions
Nothing matches. Email us at [email protected] — a person will answer.
Is Televo free?
Yes. Televo is, and always will be, free for personal 1:1 communication. There are no ads and we never sell data. Paid features for teams and power users may come later — nothing you use today will be moved behind a paywall.
Which devices does Televo work on?
iPhone with iOS 15.1 or later, and Android — download the APK from the home page (it isn't on Google Play yet). One account can be signed in on several devices at once, and messages sync between them live.
I didn't get my sign-in code
Televo signs you in with a 6-digit code sent to your email. Check your spam folder first — the code arrives from an automated sender and some providers filter it.
Use the code, not the link. Codes are single-use and expire quickly, so request a fresh one if it has been sitting for a while.
What is a Secret Chat, and how is it different?
A regular chat is encrypted in transit and stored encrypted at rest. A Secret Chat adds end-to-end encryption: the keys are generated on your device and never leave it, so message contents are unreadable to us and to our hosting provider.
You can confirm nobody intercepted the exchange by comparing safety numbers with the other person — chat menu → Verify encryption.
I reinstalled the app and my old Secret Chat messages are gone
This is expected — it's the encryption working as designed. Secret Chat history is tied to keys on the device that received it. Those keys are never backed up to us, so a reinstall creates new keys and messages encrypted to the old ones can't be recovered by anyone, including us.
A call connects but I can't hear the other person
Check that Televo has microphone permission in iOS Settings → Televo (and camera permission for video calls). If a call shows as connected but carries no audio, try switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data, which often picks a different network route — and if it keeps happening, email us: every call leaves a technical quality report that lets us find the cause.
How do I report a message or block someone?
Press and hold any message from another person and choose Report. Reports are screened automatically and escalated to human review within 24 hours — we act on confirmed violations by removing content, warning, suspending, or permanently terminating the account.
To block someone, open the chat menu and choose Block. Blocking is enforced on the server in both directions, not just hidden in the interface.
How do I sign out on another device?
Settings → Devices lists every device signed in to your account, with its model, approximate location and last activity. Tap one to sign it out remotely.
What does the AI assistant see?
Only the messages you send to the assistant chat itself. Those are processed by an AI model run by Groq to write a reply. Your other chats, contacts and Secret Chats are never shared with it. See the Privacy Policy for every place AI is used.
My account was suspended
The suspension screen shows your Televo ID. Email [email protected] from the email address your account is registered with, include that ID, and explain what happened. Without the ID, or from a different address, we can't look into the account — that protects you from someone else asking about it.
Suspensions get longer with each repeated violation. A person always makes the final decision on an appeal.
Where do I find my Televo ID?
Settings → Televo ID — tap it to copy. To report someone by email, open their profile: their Televo ID is shown there too.
How do I delete my account?
Settings → Delete account. This permanently erases your account, profile, messages, media, device records, call records and push tokens. It cannot be undone, and no email or support request is required to do it.
Why does Televo ask for my phone number?
So people who already have your number in their address book can find you on Televo. Your number is never shown to other users and cannot be read in bulk — matching compares cryptographic hashes, so someone only ever confirms a number they already had. You can change or remove it later in Settings.
Is Televo's code open?
Yes, to read. The full source of the app, the servers and the encryption is public on GitHub, so anyone can check how Secret Chats are encrypted and what our servers store. It is source-available rather than open source: reading and reviewing it is welcome, copying it into another app is not. Found a security problem? Email [email protected].
We respond to support email within a few days, privacy requests within 30 days, and content reports within 24 hours.
